The Tatra Runway Tester is the only car I know of with 5 wheels. The fifth is a retractable aircraft wheel, located where the back seats would normally be, for the purpose of assessing whether aircraft are likely to skid on icy runways. Tatras were made in the Czech Republic, primarily for use by communist party officials. After the fall of communism, production continued but the market was small and the last Tatra car was completed in 1996. The Tatra design was particularly well-suited to this adaptation due to their high speed, large passenger compartment and V8 engine mounted over the rear axle. The driver is justifiably proud of this unusual vehicle.
