EXPANDED CHANNEL TUNNEL
SERVICES: There is currently excess capacity in the Channel Tunnel.
Why not revive the idea of running International trains from other parts
of the UK to other destinations on the continent? The possibilities are
endless, but I've illustrated just three. No new railways would have to
be built, although in order to run trains through the tunnel to Cardiff,
the Great Western main line would need to be electrified, or electric
trains would need to be hauled by diesel locomotives west of London.
